How to Join:

Follow these four steps:

1. Join a SCYA affiliated Yacht Club

Each yacht club has different procedures for joining and each offer different services. Find one that is right for you. For a list of SCYA's Affiliated Clubs, go to SCYA's Home Page, or call SCYA at 562-433-7426.

Note: You do not need to own a boat to be a member of PHRF.

2. Sail Number

You will also need to obtain a sail number for your boat's sails. Include the sail number information with the Application. To obtain a Sail Number, contact SCYA at 562-433-7426. (Contact any sailmaker for the actual stick-on numbers and assistance in applying them correctly)

3. Submit an Application to PHRF

Contact the PHRF Fleet Secretary at 562-438-6712 or by E-MAIL and request an Application for Membership. Or, click on APPLICATION to view (and print) a copy.

Complete the Application and send it to PHRF along with the annual dues.

If you do not own a boat (Associate Membership), complete only the Application for Membership section.

An Associate Member is an active participant in PHRF racing, is approved for membership by the local Area Handicap Board, pays the annual dues, and is a member in good standing of clubs or organizations affiliated with and recognized by Southern California Yachting Association or the International Sailing Federation. Associate Members are entitled to hold office and/or vote at PHRF meetings. As Associate member becomes a Regular member after applying for and obtaining a Rating Certificate for a boat.

If you own a boat and want a Rating Certificate, also fill out the Application for Rating Certificate. If you are not sure of the information requested, click on MEASUREMENTS to view Sail and Rig pictures with explanations. Please include any PHRF, IRC, ORR and/or other rating certificates for the boat along with pictures or drawings or brochures with this application. Your PHRF rating will be determined by members who volunteer to serve on local Area Handicap Review Boards, whose Chairperson serves on the Regional Handicap Review Board. 4. Rating Certificate

A Rating Certificate for your boat will be mailed to you.
